No Rain, No Flowers

Organization is one of the most fundamental skills I have acquired. From a young age, I always shelved books and reorganized files in order to relax and calm down when I was upset. There was a frequent therapeutic side effect associated with stacking items in an aesthetically pleasing manner. And, it was something I did to make me at peace and to maintain harmony in the surrounding environment.

The ISM program has taught me many new skills but has greatly improved my arrangement system and time management techniques. Whether it be creating multiple folders and smaller sub-folders within an ISM section in my Google Drive or constantly revising my website and binder portfolio, my basis of typical organizing traits has gotten me far and ISM has enhanced those traits even further.

An enormous component of this course is being able to easily access items, continuously revising, updating, editing, etc. whatever the current project may be, and preserving a log. From the beginning, I knew that I would need an ISM folder within my Drive because of the amount of work we submitted on Google Classroom, which is connected to other google applications. Thus, I created an ISM folder with subfolders that contain everything from assessments to original work to showcase material. Never eliminating items may sound like too much of a protective characteristic, but, in fact, I feel that it is necessary to hold every single piece of writing, draft, outline, etc. in the case that I am looking through previous items for inspiration, motivation, or research that I may have needed later down the line which I, thankfully, did not throw away.

Time management has also been a large portion of a considerable amount of my research assessments and logs. Most of the time, I will do a great amount of work, but it will not have been in the most timely manner, or, pertaining to logs, I will have done all of the required work but will have forgotten to log my hours. This is crucial because it is essentially a schedule of what one did at what time and it is, in a way, sort of like a memory.

In conclusion, ISM has enriched two skills that I previously possessed but was not utilizing to the full extent.
