Whoever Is Trying To Bring You Down, Is Already Below You

Throughout this past week in ISM, I have done quite a bit of self-reflecting. Graduation is quickly arriving and ISM has provided me with numerous opportunities to focus on my central goals in life, whether those goals consist of what career I would like to eventually pursue or where I would like to have the most fulfilling college experience, academically and socially.

Additionally, I have spent much time updating my portfolios and logs for my upcoming conference. As I revisit my work from this past year, I realized that I have grown immensely. From acquiring information on how to properly hyphenate my work to receiving information on what are and aren’t credible sources, there is so much knowledge I have acquired throughout my research in pediatrics.

Alongside that, my mentor has taught me a plethora of lessons about the pediatric world. From the seemingly mundane to realistically complex behind the scenes world of pediatrics to the insane amount of general knowledge that goes into being a pediatrician (which does not just involve memorizing medical textbooks but also keeping up with current health issues), Dr. Dickschat has truly illustrated what it means to be a well-rounded, driven pediatrician, who thrives in her profession and overcomes any type of obstacle in her path.

In conclusion, I am fully aware that there will be people along my journey who will not support or appreciate me, and may even be close acquaintances, and rather than ignoring that fact, I have instead attempted to embrace reality. Even though it is unknown who first uttered this quote, it is extremely relevant and applicable to my exciting and continuing journey: “Raise your standards and the world will meet you there.”
