See the Good

Du

ring this past week, I have been quite busy putting the final touches on my final product. I am getting ready to order my book this weekend and am extremely excited to see the comprehensive, completed item. Additionally, I am hoping for this to create an impact in the field of pediatrics by raising more awareness amongst mental illness in kids and just a general concept of acceptance which should be instilled at an early age so children can understand and overcome differences throughout their generation.

Likewise, the style through which I am portraying acceptance and comfortability amongst kids is something that took quite a bit of research. Children’s books possess a rather high tendency to sound condescending or include cliche messages. So, in order to properly convey my message I thoroughly researched multiple children’s books and their effect, if any, that they had on society.

Another main component of my research was the publishing process of a book. Obviously, publishing anything takes at least six months to a year but usually longer for authors hoping to create a world-wide impact with their books. In the course of this research, I discovered self-publishing sites which include all the tools necessary to create one’s own book, sell and distribute, and even design covers/illustrations. Something that I thought was an added bonus is that the time to print and bind a book is the same for almost every type of print item. The only differences were the shipping and delivery times, which is beneficial, depending on when you want your book delivered.

In conclusion, there is a lot more that goes into creating a children’s book, let alone a regular book, that people do not seem to realize. However, this portion of my product truly taught me about merging the medical side and writing side of a combination item together.
