Life's a Journey, Not a Race

This past week in ISM, as I was making many, many phone calls and contacting professionals, I received, not one, but two interviews! In addition to that, business symposium provided me with a great opportunity to network with professionals and to practice my interview skills. I obtained many contacts within the healthcare field which was a huge improvement compared to last year’s business symposium.

Going back to my interview, my first interview was with Dr. Kelley Smith of All About Kids pediatrics. She gave me some incredible insight on how to make oneself a well-rounded person and properly communicate with parents and patients. Furthermore, she listed off many reasons as to why pediatrics is such a necessary and unique medical field and why the policies of her clinic provide children with the highest care.

I am extremely excited to interview a diverse amount of pediatricians this year in order to review the demographics of how certain methods can affect clinics in contrasting ways. On Thursday, I have an interview with another pediatrician and I am curiously waiting as to how her responses may or may not differ from Dr. Smith’s.

In conclusion, business symposium gave me some incredible insight into whether I would still like to continue pursuing pediatrics and my interviews will definitely give me a more holistic view of pediatrics.
