Throughout this past week in ISM, I brainstormed ideas for my original work, updated and revised my portfolio, continued with my mentor visits, and presented my research speech. I was quite productive and completed my assignments within a reasonable amount of time.
Concerning my original work, I am hoping to research more this upcoming week because I am still unsure of what I would like to do and in order to efficiently utilize my time for these upcoming weeks, I need to finalize my thoughts and make sure that, if I need to schedule any interviews or mentor visits, I will do so a decent amount of time before the due date. Currently, I am reviewing obesity, food allergies, and SIDS. SIDS, or sudden infant death syndrome, is appearing as a promising project, especially since that is something that could definitely be brought to the surface more and more.
In relation to my research speech, I wanted to do something a bit different than what I did last year for my presentation; I decided to let my analysis and evaluation steer my presentation rather than including more general observations about pediatrics. Because I am truly attempting to immerse myself in my topic this year, I am taking advantage of all the available resources and educating myself on all of the prominent issues within the pediatric world.
In conclusion, the research I have conducted thus far has immensely improved my knowledge about certain categories within the medical field.
