While preparing for the upcoming ISM year, I realized that I do not have a stable foundation to fall back upon in times of hardships and obstacles. Not only that but establishing a proper basis at the start of the year exists as a crucial component to my ISM journey. So, when Mrs. Martin spoke to our class, all of the pieces of the puzzle fell into place.
Mrs. Martin taught me numerous bits of information, directly and indirectly. Indirectly, she assisted me in recognizing that my work, whether it be research, assessments, products, etc., must constantly convey the passion I truly possess for pediatrics. There are boring and fun aspects of pediatrics, as with all other jobs, and it is one thing to acknowledge that, but it is another thing to fully embrace that knowledge.
Additionally, Mrs. Martin further explored the topic of combining one’s skillset, personality, and life experiences, in order to produce the most beneficial and rewarding outcomes, concerning careers. Even though science might not be my strongest academic subject, I still maintain an enormous interest in what information I acquire in class and outside of class. However, interpersonal skills exist as one of my distinctive personality traits and that is an essential quality a doctor must also possess.
In conclusion, Mrs. Martin has provided me with a heaping amount of information which I will definitely need to ponder. The newfound optimism and confidence she has given me in pursuing pediatrics is something I hope to utilize in times of obstacles throughout my year in ISM.
