Doubt Kills More Dreams than Failure Ever Will

Throughout this past week in ISM, I was able to continue working on my final product, update my portfolios, review previous research, and maintain a proper amount of knowledge through mentor visits and research.

Moving onto my final product, I have been making a diligent effort to research and interview multiple professionals for my AlphaBEST proposal. So far, I have interviewed two AlphaBEST representatives who were extremely accommodating and fully answered all of my questions about the program and their position within the organization. I have also begun conducting my own research about the proper amount of nutrition children are supposed to receive, including the minimum amount of calories, vitamins, minerals, etc. alongside factors such as exercise and dietary restrictions. One struggle that I am having is how to go about actually attempting to make a change throughout the entire district’s program. That was an item of concern that I especially discussed with my mentor and she explained that I need to emphasize the cost differences and how drastic those contrasts would be with different products, whether they be natural, organic, or whole-food products. I was also given multiple names of the head of the FISD AlphaBEST program and the district-program liaison.

Furthermore, I also spent part of last week taking care of some mentorship housekeeping. My mentor told me that she would email me some professional pictures of her for my website, presentation, and FPN. Additionally, I was able to get my mentor log approved and signed. It has been quite difficult, what with her jam-packed schedule, especially since flu season is nowhere near being over, but I am extremely grateful that my mentor is providing me with her utmost attention and is doing everything in her ability to teach me the busy but wonderful life of a pediatrician.

In conclusion, I am quite appreciative that someone as successful and kind as Dr. Dickschat has continued mentoring me for my second year in the ISM program. As the year progresses and my analysis and evaluation of my final product topic continues, I know that my mentor will lend me all of her available knowledge and will answer and assist me with any questions or concerns I may have pertaining to this topic.
